EUROPEAN UNION AND QANTAS JOURNALIST AWARD: Applications Open
Applications for the European Union and Qantas Journalist Award are currently closed. All calls for submissions will be announced on the National Press Club Website and Social Media Channels
The EU and Qantas Journalist Award—run in partnership with the National Press Club—has celebrated Australian journalism since 1992. Once again, award winners are given a chance to explore Europe, uncovering stories of interest to Australia. Thanks to Qantas, the winner will fly to Europe in Business to research and report on their proposed topic on the European Union.
About the EU and Qantas Journalist Award
The award comes at a critical time in global geopolitics, when the bilateral relations between the EU and Australia are growing extensively. Australia has made a significant contribution to support Ukraine, and by extension, Europe, democracy and the rules based order globally.
The award is open to all Australian journalists who have 3 or more years of experience in the Australian media and can prove that they would benefit from a working visit to the European Union (Brussels and up to 3 European Union Member States).
We invite journalists to send in a proposal, supported by their editors, that pitches several reporting pieces focused on European themes of interest to Australian audiences. The pieces must be published following their return from the ten-day working visit to Europe.
The subjects of the project proposal are open to particular interests of the journalist and the proposed program must be based on current European-Australian themes.
A summary report on resultant coverage must also be provided following the visit.
