The Hon. David Janetzki MP, Treasurer, Minister for Energy and Minister for Home Ownership will address the National Press Club on “Queensland’s unique position to drive the national economy to the 2032 Games and beyond”.
Sharing Treasury and Energy responsibilities, David will explore competing energy priorities, federal-state cost shifting adding pressure to state budgets and the continuing GST distribution debate.

BIO
David is the Queensland Treasurer, Minister for Energy and Minister for Home Ownership. David’s childhood job was milking cows on the family dairy farm 3 hours west of Brisbane before gaining Bachelors Degrees in Economics and Law (Hons) from the University of Queensland. He went on to work in senior legal roles in Brisbane and London including with Corrs Chambers Westgarth and as General Counsel of People First Bank (formerly Heritage Bank) featuring in the Doyle’s Guide in 2015. Prior to entering Parliament in 2016, David was a founding director of Vanguard Laundry, a nationally recognised work-integrated social enterprise, served on the board of Opera Queensland and taught banking and finance law at the University of Southern Queensland. He lives in Toowoomba with his wife Mel and their three children.
