About Ted OβBrien
Appointed three months ago to the position of Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ted brings considerable international experience to the role.
Much of Tedβs 20-plus years in business prior to entering politics was spent living and working abroad: from the shop floor to the board room; from a family business to a big exporter and then a multinational; and across industries from commodities to consumer goods and then high technology.
Tedβs last international role was as a strategist and deal-maker for the Asia Pacific and Emerging Markets based out of Beijing, as part of a global technology services company for which he worked for over a decade.
His previous roles include Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Shadow Treasurer and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party.
Ted holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland, a Scholarship in Chinese Mandarin from the National Taiwan Normal University, a Master of International Business from the University of Melbourne (1st Class Hons), and a Master of Economics from the London School of Economics.
He is married to Dr Sophia OβBrien with whom he has three young children, and they live in his electorate of Fairfax on the Sunshine Coast.
