The National Press Club of Australia

Allegra Spender MP, Independent Member for Wentworth, will Address the National Press Club of Australia.

Allegra Spender is the independent member for Wentworth. Allegra has an economics degree from Cambridge University, is a member of the House Economics Committee and the Joint Migration Committee and has been an outspoken advocate for tax reform.

Since entering parliament as part of the so-called “Teal wave” in May 2022, Allegra has embarked on her own tax reform process, bringing together leading economists, business leaders, unions, social sector organizations and environmental groups to join a series of roundtables. Her goal is to build consensus around how our tax system can drive productivity and growth, whilst addressing intergenerational inequity. Prior to entering politics, she has worked in the corporate, non-profit, private, and public sectors. She started her career at McKinsey & Company, before working at the U.K. Treasury and in a leading U.K. public teaching hospital.
