The Hon Pat Conroy MP, Minister for Defence Industry, Minister For International Development & The Pacific will Address the National Press Club of Australia on Delivering AUKUS – the nuts and bolts of the biggest industrial uplift in a generation.
Pat Conroy is the Minister for Defence Industry and the Minister for International Development and the Pacific. In the Defence Industry portfolio, his responsibilities include capability approval decisions through the National Security Committee of Cabinet, and managing capability acquisitions and sustainment projects. On the AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine acquisition, Minister Conroy is focussed on boosting Australia’s defence industry so it can play its part in building and sustaining nuclear-powered submarines and on driving industrial base collaboration between the AUKUS partner nations.
Before serving in the Albanese Government, his roles included Shadow Minister for International Development and the Pacific and Shadow Minister Assisting for Defence. Mr Conroy was first elected to Parliament in 2013 and holds the NSW seat of Shortland which covers Eastern Lake Macquarie and the Northern Central Coast.
Minister Conroy’s address to the National Press Club will provide an update on the Australian Government’s plans to acquire nuclear powered submarines and to develop the industrial base to deliver the submarine program.
