The Minister for Aged Care, The Hon. Anika Wells, will present her vision for aged care and why bold ambition is needed to continue restoring the dignity of older Australians.
Anika Wells is the Minister for Aged Care, Minister for Sport and Federal Member for Lilley.
Minister Wells took over the seat from former Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer Wayne Swan following his retirement at the 2019 election.
A former aged care worker, Anika is the youngest Minister in the Federal Government and mother to twin boys Ossian and Dashiell and daughter Celeste.
The Minister holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from Griffith University, and a Diploma of Legal Practice from the Australian National University.
Prior to her election to Parliament, she practised law for five years at Australia’s leading social justice law firm Maurice Blackburn.
In her first year as aged care Minister, Wells has addressed 69 Royal Commission recommendations including major reforms such as Star Ratings, 24/7 nursing while also funding a record 15 per cent award wage increase for the aged care workers.
