Her Excellency Vicki Treadell CMG, MVO took up her appointment as British High Commissioner to Australia on 13 March 2019.
As the UK’s first female High Commissioner of Asian heritage, and with professional expertise and knowledge from postings spanning from South Asia to the South Pacific, Treadell brings an Indo Pacific perspective to her work.
The High Commissioner began her Foreign Service career in 1979, going on to serve as High Commissioner to Malaysia (2014 to 2019) and New Zealand (2010 to 2014), as and Deputy High Commissioner to India (2006 to 2010).
She was made a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) in 1989 and a Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in 2010. In 2009 she won the Public Sector Award in the UK’s prestigious Asian Women of Achievement Awards. Mrs Treadell received an honorary Doctorate of Law from Reading University in 2016 & an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from Nottingham University in 2019. She is the Vice Chair of the Women of the Future programme.
