culinary team
The culinary team are proud award winners with The Column Restaurant winning The Clubs ACT Awards for Excellence in the best Restaurant Category in 2003 and 2005 and 2006. In 2003 apprentice Mark Raets won the Restaurant and Catering Apprentice of the Year in the first year category and second runner up in the Southern Cross Graduate Cooks Award in 2005. In 2006 the team won the Gold medal in the ACTAB Chefs on Show competition and in 2007 the Bronze medal. In 2007 the Column Restaurant was awarded Best Restaurant in a Club in our region for the Restaurant and Catering Awards.
In 2007 David Lockwood won a Gold Medal in the World Skills Australia Regional Competition Cookery Category.
Danielle Riley Sous Chef competed in The Chefs Studio Melbourne Culinary Challenge held at the Melbourne Show Ground in September 2007. Danielle was placed in the top 15 in Australia in The Battle (*Iron Chef*), received a Bronze medal in the tag team in which she competed with Dan Hurley a prominent Canberra Chef and received a Gold medal in the Tassal 2007 young chef of the year award.
